O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
– Psa 95:1 KJV
All are welcome to come to learn how to use their voice to glorify God!
Every service in our church brings together the liturgical arts, engaging all our senses and enabling us to participate as fully as humanly possible in worship together. Join me as we explore the role music plays in Orthodox worship and find your own place in the texture of sound we create using our own bodies as instruments.
In this music class we will learn:
- what to listen for in the songs of the church
- how to produce sound
- why we sing
One day I hope we can take up the traditions of western culture and learn to read music and understand how harmony fits together.
Everyone is encouraged to attend, non-singers and experienced musicians alike. You are only required to come with an open mind and willingness to try new things.
This class is brought to you by Kristin Dunnan who majored in music from Mount Holyoke College, with concentrations in piano performance, musicology, and voice.
