Dear Friend,

The blessing of the Lord be upon you!

The Power of LoveAugust 23, 2016 by Abbot Tryphon

We must cultivate this love in our souls.

“It is easier for feeble straw to resist a mighty fire than for the nature of sin to resist the power of love. We must cultivate this love in our souls, that we may take our place with all the saints. For through their love for their neighbor, they were all pleasing to God.”  These words are made all the more powerful since they were uttered by none other than Saint Elizabeth the New Martyr, Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, convert to Orthodox Christianity, and founder of an urban convent in Moscow. She was brutally martyred by the Bolsheviks in 1918, even after she and her nuns had used their nursing skills to minister to these same Bolsheviks, during the bloody battles of the Russian Revolution. It was love that activated their commitment to bring aid to even those who were destroying churches and monasteries, murdering bishops, priests, and monastics, and who ultimately would murder all of them. It is this same love, given birth in Christ, that empowers us to love even our enemies.

With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon

Baby Chloe was born today, 8-23-16, to Christina (Nina) and Dustin Johnson. 🙂 I know her parents and big sister Colete are ecstatic! If you are interested in participating in the meal train that their friends have set up please sign up below:

We are excited to welcome Chloe, into the world (August 23rd) and as any new parent knows it’s hard to cook and take care of everything (hubby, kids, the house) while caring for a new baby! Let’s help Nina & Dustin out with a few meals. Thanks

Shelley Solomon has invited you to join the Meal Train for Johnson Family (Dustin, Nina and Colette)

What is a meal train?
There are times in our lives when friends and family ask, “What can I do to help out?” The answer is usually to help them with a meal. When many friends give a meal, this is a Meal Train.

mealtrain.com is a free meal calendar tool that makes planning meals among a wide group easy and less stressful.

Please share this email with others.

We have a spectacularly beautiful mural of Christ as the vine adorning our fellowship hall and we would love to put your picture on the wall.  Please email me a digital photo of you/your family that I can print as a 5×7 color photo and I will have it printed and framed.

God Bless,
